There are few clubs in the world who can match English giants Chelsea when it comes to muscle power in the transfer market. The Blues have spent heavily ever since Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich took charge of the club and given this year’s failure, they were expected to do more of the same in the upcoming transfer window.

One of their top targets in the summer is billed to be Neymar, the Brazilian sensation. However, the London giants are now not the only ones who have been touted to make their interest concrete in the near future.

According to Spanish daily Sport, German bigwigs Bayern Munich are preparing a massive £86m bid to bring the striker to Munich. Former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola is set to take charge at Bayern at the start of next season and the club are expected to spend heavily as he looks to re-establish the club’s supremacy in Europe.

Although the figure is unheard of as far as Bayern’s transfer policy is concerned, should they match it, then it is likely to dissuade interest from all quarters for Neymar. However, given the player’s relative inexperience at the top level, one has to wonder whether such a deal would really be in the larger interest of the club. This one could turn out to be a blessing in disguise for Chelsea.
