Bundesliga league leaders Bayern Munich are reported to be lining up a mammoth £86million bid for Brazilian star Neymar. Leading UK daily the Metro claims that the Bavarian club wish to fast-track Neymar’s European arrival with a record-breaking fee.

With Pep Guardiola set to join Bayern next season, Neymar may be tempted to snub interest from other clubs for a chance to work with the manager. The striker could have a similar impact for Guardiola as Lionel Messi.

The speculation surrounding Neymar has been unrelenting. He has been linked with moves to England, Spain, Italy and now Germany. The strongest link was to Spanish giants Barcelona , who were said to have signed a pre-contract with Santos allowing the Brazilian to play for the club until 2014. In March, it looked almost certain that Barcelona would be his destination after the club’s sporting vice president Josep Maria Bertomeu affirming they would make an offer.

“When he [Neymar] says he wants to leave Santos, Barcelona will be there to sign him,” Bertomeu told El Confidencial.

The player and Santos have since assured Europe that there is no pre-contract and Barcelona are welcome to bid like everyone else during the transfer window. This has given encouragement to the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and now Bayern who hope that an exorbitant bid can price Barcelona out of the market for the player.
